We are seeking volunteer support in our 5 study cities to help with the following activities:
- 2-day temperature measurement session – our team will visit Sacramento and Albuquerque in summer of 2018 for a 2-day temperature measurement session. We will visit Tacoma and Boise in summer of 2019. The first day we will train volunteers over dinner on how to use the research equipment, and the second day we will ask you to take 3 mobile temperature readings – a morning, midday, and evening measurement, each lasting about 15 minutes. As a thank you, we will provide dinner both days. A car is required. Volunteers needed: 10-15 per city.
- Host a stationary monitor – we are seeking locations in our 5 study cities to mount a small (4in x 3in x 2 in) air quality sensor on the outside of residential homes to measure the air quality in residential areas. They are zip-tie mounted, and do not require drilling holes. Volunteers needed: 20-30 per city.
- Healthcare industry knowledge sharing – we are seeking data on birth weights in a form that is usable for our analysis. This data is public record, however it is generally made available in the form of individual birth certificates. We are seeking any health workers or researchers who have collected this information into a table format for four of the cities in our study: Albuquerque, Boise, Sacramento and Tacoma.
- Interviews – we are seeking knowledgeable health and environmental professionals in our study cities to help us learn more about the conditions in these cities that relate to health and environmental conditions.
